ICSE Curriculum

Why ICSE curriculum is the future

WHAT IS ICSE & CISCE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is a non-government, private board established for school education in India and follows the ICSE curriculum up to X standard and continues further as the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC) up to XII standard.

Although it is not under the Central Government of India, the CISCE board is recognized in India and also by many foreign education systems as equivalent to senior examination or high school. Therefore students qualifying in 12th standard from an ISC school are not required to go for bridge courses while seeking admission in colleges abroad.

Hence, there is good future scope of this board. Students will be able to crack many scholarship exams through this board as the syllabus is in detail so as to equip students to face their senior secondary education with ease.

EARLY TO ICSE, THE BETTER!

Be it the Calibrations in Physics, or the Progressions of Mathematics; the enriching History or the Topography of Geography, the Atomic Structure of Chemistry or the life-processes in Biology; all subjects are knitted together by the rich vocabulary of the English Language.

Therefore, ICSE gives a lot of prominence to English language. It becomes imperative for students to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills at a very young age itself so that they would grow up to be effective communicators and change-makers of the society. Thus, the curriculum designed by the CISCE especially for the Language subjects offers a wide range of learning styles that spreads wider than the areas mentioned above. It challenges students to ‘go the extra mile’ when it comes to creative learning.

ICSE IS A MIXTURE OF KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

ICSE offers students to explore through an ocean of knowledge and enables students to achieve precision and attain the highest standards of excellence in all their endeavours. Be it through the Internal Assessments, projects, field trips, lab activities, interviews etc., ICSE students always have an edge over the others. The curriculum has a special compulsory subject called SUPW (Socially useful Productive Work). In this subject, students are made to explore, innovate and engage in a number of activities that would enhance their social, artistic and analytical skills. Community service program is also a part of the SUPW project. Learning beyond the classroom is what the CISCE believes in!

AN ICSE STUDENT IS NOT A BOOKWORM!

It is a sad fact that ICSE students are considered to be ‘nerds’. This is certainly not true. The diverse learning opportunity allows an ICSE student to excel in co-curricular activities like sports, dance, music, art etc. If an ICSE student aspires to write Competitive Exams he/she is definitely equipped with high level of thinking and judgement which would eventually help them to crack these exams with ease.

MY FINAL TAKE – ICSE WOULD BE THE FUTURE!

The first mobile phone was invented in 1973 by a Motorola employee. Did he ever imagine that today this same device would become an integral part of our human lives? I’m sure not. We all did go through a phase in 1999 wherein people were hesitant to accept the concept of ‘mobile phones’ in the hands of young or older generation. But today, the scenario has drastically changed!

Imagine your present Grade -1 child, when he passes out of Grade 10 or even later than that, what could be the ‘trending education system’ after 10 years? I strongly believe that it would certainly be the Competent ICSE curriculum!

The education system which started many years ago was indeed a great revolution in the field of Indian education system, but times have changed! As technology demands advancement, progressive change and innovation, so also the young minds demand the education system to be competent enough to keep them engaged, provide them a challenging learning environment so that it would not only quench their thirst for knowledge, but also teach them to ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE.

Here at Vidya Soudha Public School, we follow the ICSE Curriculum that grooms students to Surge for Excellence!
