Beyond Academics

Student Council Body

The Student Council members are “successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens with a sense of pride in everything they do”.  They work hand in hand with the teachers in ensuring discipline in the school and are very reliable and helpful in always putting in a lot of effort in the smooth functioning of the school.

They are expected to be excellent role models for the entire student community.

The four school houses at VSPS help build a community that encourages healthy competition and present themselves as a playground for the school’s talent to shine.

Every year at VSPS the students and staff elect the STUDENT COUNCIL BODY comprising of:

  • Head Boy
  • Head Girl
  • House Captains – Takshashila, Chalukya, Rashtrakuta and Hoysala respectively
  • Vice Captains of the respective houses

VSPS Clubs

We understand that the energy of our young students needs to be channelized and that personality enhancement and confidence building are important facets of schooling. Our extensive co-curricular program is built to take into account talent and interest in different disciplines: sports, music, dance, aesthetics etc. A variety of clubs are functional in VSPS.

Picassos Art Club

The club helps students to grab an opportunity to engage in Art-making and Art-appreciation activities outside of the art classroom through the club activities. Picassos club is dedicated to nurture the internal creative development of all students through a focus on critical thinking and aesthetic understanding. Thus, students are given an opportunity to recognize and reinforce their talents in Art.

Eureka! Science Club

The Club will explore a range of fun activities in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Participants will be able to work individually, in pairs, or with the entire group. The objective is to explore different walks of science through quizzes, extempore, exhibition, field trips etc. that helps to open-up the scientific minds.

Sports & Karate Club

An effective physical training session serves as a constructive tool to build physical stamina, energy and instructional based workouts. Keeping this in mind Karate and many other activities related to sports and games are organised to keep the mind and the body fit. Karate helps the child not only to be able to defend him/her self but also prepare the child to face the future with discipline and confidence.

S-O-C-H

(Sensitizing Overwhelming Children with Humanitarian values)

VSPS promotes the appreciation of the diversity of persons, cultures, provides an optimal environment for learning that inspire in its students to:

  • Discovering joy of learning
  • Practicing tolerance and living together in peace
  • Providing leadership that demonstrate awareness of ethical and moral issues

The unique AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM (ACP) is based on the principles as laid by Swami Vivekananda.

Each one of us, carries within, an infinite source of power, strength and goodness. As per ACP, this power and strength can be felt, every time we say “I can”. This infinite power gets manifested as various possibilities. The more we consciously develop or manifest these possibilities, the more faith we develop in ourselves. The ACP program is designed to open the minds of children and enable them to discover values. Test

As a part of the daily assembly activities, SHLOKA RECITATION is also introduced and is recited every morning. The marvellous rendition of shlokas leaves us spellbound each morning!

Outreach programs

Community Outreach and Service activities are an integral part of most of our learning experiences and engagements. These Outreach activities and projects develop leadership, resilience, empathy and service-mindedness is our students. At an early age, our students learn the importance of developing the spirit of giving back to society and reaching out to those less privileged and that are marginalized.

The community outreach program at VSPS involved leading awareness campaigns such as NO VEHICLE DAY, FLAG MARCH on Independence Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan Drive on Gandhi Jayanthi, Internet Safety Workshop, Blood Donation Drive, visit to orphanages, eco-sustainability drives on environment day being some of the highlights of our Outreach program.

Student Zone

VSPS is always buzzing with vibrant classrooms where enterprise, creativity and independent thought are greatly valued. At the same time students work harmoniously in groups in a culture of mutual respect and inclusivity. Practical application of concepts, self-analysis and goal setting are key features of learning. The school is thus a microcosm of the real world, committed to preparing life-long learners to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.

The USP of the school is our deliberate focus on encouraging students to have a moral compass: to have a sensibility greater than themselves and to have a philanthropic spirit. We believe that our students should be committed to making a better world by taking proactive measures and it is everyone`s individual and collective responsibility to be a good citizen and a good human being. We create awareness among our students regarding the complexities in the world today: environmental, political and social. We indoctrinate our students to make the right moral choices and the importance of a value system as the basis for their decision making in life. These values are introduced in the curriculum, through classroom studies, during assembly and other school activities.

Teacher Zone

The Teaching Methodology to a large extent is participatory reducing the lecture method to minimum. The process of learning includes discussions, case studies, investigations, problem solving, role play, project work and field trips whereby the students develop a sense of community discipline through interaction with nature, people, objects and the environment.

Seminars, guest lectures, and workshops also form an integral part of the school curriculum. Teachers use a child-centric style which fosters confidence and the development of aesthetic, social, critical and analytical skills through an integrated method. The feedback received is used for remediation for enhancement of individual performance.

Teaching methodology is planned taking into account the different learning styles depending on strengths & weaknesses of students. Differential strategies are implemented to enhance learning outcomes and bridge learning gaps.

Parent Zone

We consider parents to be our co-partners in our endeavour to impart good quality education. We encourage participation, feedback and the reinforcement of our school`s ethos at home. If we work together mountains can be moved and momentous miracles are possible.

Parents are invited as Guest speakers, Judges, guests for important school events. They also involve in community outreach programs and actively take part in all the endeavours of the school too.

Apart from the regular PTMS, a unique parent interaction program called ‘COFFEE WITH PARENTS’ presided by the Principal along with the coordinators, has always been a huge success in VSPS.  Several discussions both academic and non-academic help to develop a strong relationship between parents and school.
